Lewiston City Council adopts fundraising policy, resets Events Council meeting day

The Lewiston City Council unanimously approved two items of city business at its April 21 meeting.

Councilmember Jonna Westover introduced Resolution 26-01, a measure to define the city's policy for fundraising by organizations operating as part of Lewiston. Councilmember F. Bodily moved to approve the resolution and Councilmember Simper seconded; a roll-call vote recorded Bodily, Morrison, Simper, and Trexler voting yes. The motion passed unanimously.

Westover also presented an amendment to Resolution 25-04 to update the Events Council's regular meeting day. The original resolution listed the meeting day as the second Wednesday of each month; the amendment resets the meeting to the second Tuesday at 6:00 p.m., matching the preference of current members. F. Bodily moved to approve the amendment, Morrison seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.

Other routine business followed: the minutes of the March 17 meeting were approved by unanimous voice vote; the mayor was recorded as absent; and councilmembers provided brief reports on community activities, including a successful Youth Council Easter egg hunt, a Library Board chair appointment, summer theatre programming, Planning & Zoning staffing, and Events Council and youth baseball updates.
