A staff member who was addressed as John explained that under a law effective in January the city must upload notice of an additional appropriation and specific information through the state gateway system at least 14 days before the public hearing; a computer glitch on the state side prevented the timely upload and the Department of Local Government Finance (DLGF) review requires the 14‑day advance notice to run before the public hearing. “A computer glitch on the state’s side prevented us from uploading that information in a timely manner,” the staff member said.
A council member moved to table the ordinance until the publication requirement could be satisfied. The motion was seconded and carried by voice vote. The ordinance will be continued to a future meeting after the required notice period has elapsed.
