Detective Shauna Wade of the Newman City Police Department appealed to the public for help Wednesday in the unsolved 2015 killing of Elswayvion Laquentin Martin.
Wade said police responded on Dec. 10, 2015, to the area of 20 Calhoun Street after a man was found deceased in a roadside creek. Investigators identified the man as Elswayvion Laquentin Martin of Newman City and determined he died from a gunshot wound.
"Even the smallest detail could be critical in moving this case forward and bringing justice to Mr. Martin and his family," Wade said, urging anyone with information to contact the department's cold investigations unit.
Wade told listeners that, despite extensive investigative work and multiple leads, police have not identified the person or persons responsible. She said investigators believe there may be community members who hold information that could help the probe.
Tips can be submitted directly to the Newman City Police Department's cold investigations division or anonymously through Scribe Stoppers of Greater Atlanta, Wade said; a reward may be available for information that leads to an arrest and conviction. She did not specify a reward amount.
The department said it remains committed to pursuing justice in cold cases and will continue investigating leads. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Newman City Police Department.
