Purva Patel asks board to end probation after accepting responsibility for pharmacy record violations

Purva Patel (agency case 7113, OAH 2026050196) appeared before the disciplinary petition committee on May 19 seeking early termination of a five-year probation imposed after findings that she failed to maintain accurate acquisition-disposition records and directed removal of tablets from filled prescriptions at an independent pharmacy.
Deputy Attorney General Nicole Trauma summarized the underlying audit findings covering August 20172020, which showed inventory shortages and alleged that Patel directed staff to remove tablets or capsules from previously filled prescriptions and still submit claims for the full quantity. Trauma said Patel's license was revoked effective Aug. 31, 2022, the revocation stayed, and she was placed on probation for five years. Patel paid board costs and fines (including a $10,000 administrative fine) and completed required education and supervised practice.
Patel testified she accepted responsibility and said probation has forced her to focus on ethics and decision-making; she said she would prefer staff pharmacist work rather than resuming pharmacist-in-charge duties and had no near-term plans to open another pharmacy. "The 3 and a half years since have taught me that the work of probation is not to relitigate the past. It is to take full responsibility for it," Patel said.
DAG Trauma said the People had no concerns with this petition based on documented compliance and expressed remorse. The petitioner and the People agreed the matter was submitted and the record closed; the committee moved into closed session to deliberate and will issue a written decision later.
