Emily Lazotte, co‑chair of the district’s District Advisory and Accountability Committee (DAC), told the board at its May 18 meeting that DAC membership was confirmed in September with 18 members and that the committee met five times during the year to advise on the district strategic plan.
Lazotte said DAC’s focus this year was implementation—checking whether actions in the strategic plan are producing results—rather than creating new initiatives. She said the committee found positive trends in academic measures and noted examples where DAC feedback was incorporated, including messaging to help families understand why staff professional development days occur on Mondays.
Lazotte highlighted DAC’s interest in real‑world learning (including partnerships such as Front Range Community College dual‑enrollment) and recommended stronger district promotion of a 24/7 crisis‑response line as a wellness resource. She also described DAC’s role in advising on budget priorities; members prioritized personnel and classroom supports when asked where any additional funds should go.
Board members thanked Lazotte and other DAC members for their work and discussed ideas to increase parent participation and representation (including allowing drop‑in attendance at DAC meetings). Lazotte said the committee will continue addressing attendance and representation and will share revised meeting materials for the board’s minutes.
