Brookwood Elementary honored students and promoted a new Kindness Club at May board meeting

Brookwood Elementary Principal John Austerberry presented a school update to the Bristol Township School District board on May 18, highlighting student accomplishments, improving attendance and lower discipline referrals tied to incentive programs, and introducing a student-led Kindness Club.
Austerberry said Brookwood’s average attendance exceeded 94% in 2024–25 and described a drop in office referrals (from 526 to 370 year‑to‑year) and a roughly 15% decrease in suspensions (from 112 to 74) after implementing biweekly bonus incentives and other culture-building programs. "We're trying to just support and be there for the kids," Austerberry said, praising staff and the student leadership that started the Kindness Club.
The board also heard from Lori Gallagher of the Foundation of the Arts, who presented two artists of the month: Autumn Long (vocal/music, Mill Creek Elementary) and Juliana Jenkins (Brookwood Elementary). Gallagher said Jenkins’ artwork will be featured in the district art show, and the board applauded the students and staff.
The district will highlight the Kindness Club on social media and invited attendees to a brief photo opportunity before the meeting resumed business.
