North Ridgeville City Schools on May 18 honored 14 retiring employees whose combined careers add up to roughly 333 years, introduced a new district nurse and approved a slate of routine financial, human-resources and building-and-operations measures.
Superintendent Sarah opened the meeting’s recognition segment, calling the retirees “remarkable” and saying the 333 years of service “really reflects the hard work and dedication” of staff across the district. The board acknowledged departing staff from classroom teachers and special‑education aides to custodial and food‑service workers. Those named included longtime district and building nurses, classroom teachers, transportation staff and maintenance workers; several honorees were unable to attend in person and were recognized in absentia.
After the recognition and a brief recess for photographs, the board returned to business and approved the consent agenda and financial reports for April 2026. The finance presentation recommended adoption of estimated resources and appropriations amendments for fiscal year 2026, an updated financial forecast and a transfer of funds from the general fund to athletics; the board approved the slate by roll call.
On buildings and operations, administration recommended moving forward with contract negotiations with Aramark for food service management after completing the district RFP process. The board authorized Aramark negotiations, with administration saying Aramark provided the best overall value among respondents.
The board also approved a Guaranteed Maximum Price amendment No. 4 for the new high‑school project to add two bid alternatives: upgraded wood flooring for the auxiliary gymnasium and an acoustical shelf for the performing‑arts theater. Administration said the additions were possible because the project remained under budget, allowing enhanced athletic and performance spaces for students and the community.
The human‑resources report included one certified replacement, a support‑staff appointment, dozens of supplemental and ESY contracts, bus‑driver contracts, special‑education aide contracts, and several resignations and leaves of absence. The full HR slate was approved by motion and roll‑call vote.
The board introduced Mandy Fleming as the district nurse. Superintendent Sarah said Fleming has served two years as a building nurse at Liberty Elementary and will continue those responsibilities while assuming district nursing duties, overseeing nursing processes and coordinating wellness programs across the district.
The meeting closed after roll‑call approval of the consent agenda, finance items, the Aramark negotiation authorization, the GMP amendment and the human‑resources slate. No contentious debates, formal amendments or public‑comment controversies were recorded in the transcript for these items.
