Board interns unveil alumni networking website to connect students with graduates

A team of Bloomfield Hills Schools board interns on May 18 demonstrated a student‑built alumni networking website designed to connect current students with graduates for mentorship, career guidance and future community engagement.
"We started an alumni outreach program... and then we built this on a website," said board intern Ina Jindali, describing a directory that provides contact templates, resume and email guidance, and category filters by profession. The interns said they collected about 130 alumni contacts so far and worked with Christina Tang from the BHS Foundation to increase reach.
Krish Patel and other interns said the team prioritized scalability and a user experience that could be handed to next year’s interns. "Vercel's AI tools allowed us to streamline the website designing process," Patel said, explaining the choice of platform and automated features intended to simplify future handoffs.
Trustees praised the students’ work. One trustee called the project a solution to a decade‑old problem of weak alumni connections and thanked students for work that could support career events, guest speakers and fundraising.
Next steps: interns will send the participation form to this year’s graduating seniors, refine the intake form to better categorize alumni by industry, request that the district link the network from the district website and explore linking the tool with the BHS Foundation and daily announcements to boost awareness.
The presentation was acknowledged in a broader recognition segment and the board moved to the main meeting agenda.
