HPC plans short history videos, preservation walk and home tour; members to update bios and photos

Commissioners discussed outreach projects intended to raise public awareness of Grantsville history and to support the historic-district effort.
Sidney Rasher said she posted Linda Batterman's bio and photo to Facebook and asked members to provide individual photos for the HPC website. "Sidney will attach the interactive map on SHPO website for everyone to look through," she said, and she asked that members submit photos by next Thursday.
The commission reviewed a proposal to produce short, social-media–friendly history videos rather than a single long documentary. Commissioners referenced the Weber Historical Society's example and invited Jason Arbon to assist; suggested formats included a 60-second profile of a single house or quarterly short features with local narrators.
Commissioners also discussed a Preservation Walk on Main Street with 12–15 historically significant locations to be featured on a virtual map, and the Historic Home Tour 2026. Members debated scheduling the Home Tour the same week as the Honey Harvest Festival; Sidney Rasher said she would no longer be able to help or have her home participate if the dates conflicted with her new role at Clark Historic Farm, but the group voted to keep the Home Tour in the festival week to maximize publicity.
Finally, Bill Cobabe said he would speak with the City Attorney about whether the HPC can act as an arm of the city for certain projects and whether funds or formal authority are required for outreach work.
