Board members voted to set the levy and the associated payment schedule and discounts: a 2% discount for payments made on or before Aug. 31, 2026, and installment due dates of Aug. 1, Sept. 15 and Oct. 31, 2026, with penalties for late payment as specified in the resolution.
The board also authorized homestead and farmstead assessed-value reductions consistent with state programs; the district cited an estimated per-approved-property reduction of $475 based on the adopted millage. The resolution notes that homestead/farmstead eligibility derives from county assessment office reports and applications filed by March 1.
In the same meeting the board approved an extensive consent agenda of contracts and appointments tied to district operations and the budget. Notable items included a contract extension for athletic trainer services (draft terms discussed by administration), appointment of Rinaldi and Povaromo PC as solicitor effective July 1, 2026, appointment of Barbara Kane Thornton & Co. LLP for the annual audit (not to exceed $34,000.06), and multiple facilities and maintenance service contracts. The board approved payment of bills presented for May, including $2,654,628 from the General Fund, $96,432 from the cafeteria fund and a payroll distribution of $2,244,444 as read during the meeting.
Board members framed the votes in the context of ongoing pressures on district finances and state funding. A separately adopted resolution urges the state legislature and governor to provide sustained increases in basic and special-education funding and cites an adequacy gap the district described in internal materials.
The board also approved a collective bargaining agreement with Teamsters Local 384 covering July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2029. Administration said contract and capital decisions were coordinated with the district's multi-phase facilities plan and the capital projects budget will be finalized next month.
The district will publish official tax notices and the full adopted budget documents; the board indicated additional budget details and any required implementation steps will be communicated to the public and posted with regular district financial reports.
