The Minnetrista City Council approved two infrastructure items on May 18: Task Order 17 to design drainage improvements at County Road 110 and County Road 151 (City Project 426) and Change Order No. 2 for the citys water treatment plant.
Allison Foske (WSB, city engineer) described Task Order 17: the southeast corner of County Road 110 and 151 receives runoff and has erosion and a sanitary sewer manhole in the work area. Hennepin County has agreed to a 50/50 cost share; the design and bidding fee is $24,400. Council approved the task order by voice vote (5-0).
Staff presented Water Treatment Plant Change Order No. 2, which includes a pump adjustment to reclaim process water (reducing discharge and sewer costs), a stormwater-basin modification in response to watershed comments, and a deduct for certain fittings on the reclaim spray system. The net impact on the contract was reported at roughly +$23,000 after prior adjustments. Council approved Change Order No. 2 by voice vote (5-0) and asked staff to keep the council apprised of total change-order impacts as construction proceeds.
Councilors asked for laymans explanations of reclaim pumps and pipe-size changes; staff explained reclaiming reduces sewer flows to the metropolitan sewer authority and that some pipe sizes were reduced because the reclaim process reduces the volume that must be piped offsite.
Both motions passed unanimously.
