New veteran service officer and administrator introduce themselves to Du Bois County council

At the start of a Du Bois County meeting, the council heard introductions from staff at the Veteran Service Office.
"My name is Nick Pageragan ... I'm a veteran and your county veteran service," Pageragan said, outlining a military background that includes service in the U.S. Marine Corps, deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, and subsequent service in the Indiana Army National Guard. He said his office will help veterans and their families access earned benefits, assist with nursing-home placements and advocate for needed services.
Maria Snyder introduced herself as administrative assistant to the Veteran Service Office, saying she has worked in the county about a year and has prior experience helping patients file Medicaid and state benefits. Snyder told the council she understands deadlines, HIPAA responsibilities and eligibility processes from prior roles.
Council members welcomed both staffers and said they would follow up about salary and office procedures; no formal personnel actions were taken at this meeting.
