Saint Louis County retiree urges board to resist tax abatements for Google data center

Susan Daley, who identified herself as a Saint Louis County retiree from Duluth, used public comment to ask the board not to authorize tax abatements for a proposed Google data center.
"I'm asking you please review my notes... and please resist the temptation to give tax abatements to Google," Daley said, asserting some board members signed nondisclosure agreements and expressing concerns that the project could lower property values and raise electric and water rates.
Daley also said residents value a "peaceful and bucolic lifestyle" and asked the board to consider written comments she planned to submit. No board response or vote on tax abatements was recorded during the public comment period; her remarks were presented for the board’s consideration.
The comment came during the meeting’s public participation segment, which the chair said would continue until 10:00 and then shift to the regular agenda.
