Staff and members described washed‑off topsoil and exposed debris (rebar, glass) in the infield; one vague contractor bid mentioned during the discussion was characterized as probably about $70,000, but members asked staff to obtain clearer, itemized bids and present them at the July meeting.
Separately, staff showed maps and discussed an offer from the Sunset Ridge developer to deed flood‑plain land across Business 67 and Old Betsy back to the city. The developer suggested the area could become a walking or fitness trail and that existing HOA parking could serve as a trailhead. Board members raised questions about sewer easements, flood‑plain constraints, potential culvert work, and the city’s authority and maintenance responsibilities. Several members said the idea was worth pursuing in time but emphasized that the board should finish current capital improvement projects before taking on new work.
No formal action was taken to accept land or allocate funding; staff will continue legal and council coordination and seek clearer contractor quotes for the baseball field work.
