Punxsutawney DECA students describe ‘incredible’ international conference to school board

Beth, who delivered the student board report, said the international setting reinforced students’ motivation and confidence. “It was awesome,” she said, describing how meeting peers and business leaders from across the country and internationally gave the students practical networking and competitive experience.
School leaders and board members praised the students’ performance and noted small but immediate recruitment gains: the students reported three or four new members have joined DECA since their return. Board members said they appreciated the students’ representation of the district and thanked them for sharing what they described as learning and leadership opportunities.
The DECA presentation was part of the board’s routine reports; no formal action was required. The board’s earlier remarks referenced community and business support that helped cover costs for the trip.
