District reports facilities progress, spring recruitment and IAM review at workshop

District staff provided brief updates on facilities, human resources and a superintendent-led IAM review at the Feb. 3 Muskegon Public Schools workshop.
John Snyder reported that the MHS auditorium project is progressing, that lockers will be installed at Glenside the following week, and that the district is close to completing work financed by the 2020 bond. Sheila Brown recognized De'Ante Davis for earning a certification from Muskegon Community College and described a spring recruitment plan that includes visits to several historically Black colleges and a large college fair. Superintendent Matthew Cortez said "Kimberly and Lisa" visited last week for IAM meetings and that staff discussed possible grant funding to support career pathways and the career and technical center (CTC).
Staff also announced an April 30, 2026, Glenside building opening event from 5–7 p.m. The workshop was informational; no formal actions were recorded.
