Argo council approves appointments, business-alliance additions and community donations

The Argo City Council on May 11 approved a series of routine items, including the addition of eight businesses to the Argo Business Alliance board, adoption of a resolution appointing a new chief building official, and three community donations totaling $2,000.
Council actions carried by roll call included the approval of Argo Pharmacy, Moda Boutique, Argo Animal Clinic, J.T. Daffron IV, Argo Hardware, Argo Power Equipment, Hilltop Farms and ABC Towing Inc. for the Argo Business Alliance board after a motion by Councilperson Dennis Griffin and a second by Mayor Pro-Tem Corky Massey. Mayor Randy Hettich called a unanimous roll-call vote in favor.
Mayor Pro-Tem Corky Massey moved and Councilperson Mike King seconded the council's adoption of Resolution No. 2026-05-11, appointing Mark Vincent as Chief Building Official and Zoning Administrator; the motion passed on a unanimous vote.
The council also authorized three donations: $500 to the Springville Track and Field Booster (approved as old business), $1,000 to the Springville Softball Booster, and an additional $500 to the Springville Track and Field Booster. All donation motions were moved and seconded as recorded and passed by unanimous roll-call votes.
The meeting opened and closed with routine procedural actions: roll call, invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance. The council approved the meeting agenda and minutes of the April 27 work session and regular meeting; those motions passed with Councilperson Corky Massey recorded as abstaining on the agenda and minutes votes.
Also noted during the meeting: Chair Alicia Vincent of Argo Park and Recreation announced the America 250 community event scheduled for June 27, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at City Hall. Mayor Randy Hettich announced the next council meeting for May 18, 2026 at 5:00 PM and that City Hall will be closed May 25 for Memorial Day.
The council adjourned after a brief public-comment period. The motions, vote tallies and the adopted resolution were recorded in the official minutes.
