The Minooka Community High School District 111 board on May 20 approved a package of capital and operating contracts, renewed several instructional and administrative software subscriptions and handled multiple personnel items.
Board Chair (Speaker 4) presided as the board voted to award the South Campus water-heater replacement contract to Barry Plumbing & Heating Inc. for $254,332 and to award a Central Campus painting contract to Asher Brothers for $113,100. The board also approved a FY26 parking lot paving and seal coat contract with Advantage Paving Solutions for $247,651.40. For South Campus HVAC repairs the board approved the low bid to Depew/DePuy (motion text listed $41,143) and authorized additional diagnostic work on a time-and-materials basis not to exceed $15,000.
The board voted on and passed a series of software renewals that staff said are required for classroom instruction and district operations: a six-year renewal with Big Ideas Learning ($53,245), one-year renewals with ClassLink ($13,574.40), Frontline Education ($12,756.74), GoGuardian ($16,045.50), Gold Star Learning ($26,058.14) and IXL ($16,800), and a three-year renewal with Huddle/Hudl ($47,400). Staff framed these as recurring costs tied to curriculum, assessment and athletics tools.
On instructional materials the board approved automotive textbooks from Goodhart Wilcox ($5,005) and fire-science textbooks ($7,146.80), and authorized disposal of surplus CTE equipment that will be replaced as part of program updates.
The board handled multiple personnel motions. After returning from executive session the board approved listed resignations and retirements, granted leaves of absence pending documentation, approved summer and extracurricular employment for the coming school year, and approved employment of certified staff for 2025-26 pending background checks. The board also approved termination motions for two employees as presented in executive session.
Most motions were adopted after roll-call votes in which members recorded affirmative votes; the meeting record shows motions carried as announced on the dais.
The board also approved an intergovernmental agreement for use of Manuka Fire Protection District facilities and authorized submitting a $1,013.73 land-cash release request to the Kendall County treasurer.
The meeting adjourned after the final votes and routine closing business.
