Mayor (speaker 1) said the funding supports social-service providers that otherwise would fall under county responsibility, calling the city’s investments “an expression of our values” and noting the council is “very proud of it.” Council member Jamil Hernandez moved the consent agenda after staff updated consent item B with additional context and KPIs; another council member seconded the motion and the mayor called a voice vote, recorded as 4–0 in favor.
On appointments, the council voted to reappoint Dave Belgard (Washington, Tony and Woods), Robert Chiswell (Pheasant Run) and Aaron Katak (Lakelands) to three-year terms on the Board of Appeals. A council member moved the reappointments and the motion carried 4–0; the appointees were not present at the meeting.
The approvals follow routine procedural votes earlier in the meeting to accept minutes from the April 27 work session and the May 4 regular session; both motions were recorded as carrying 4–0.
The council’s next regular meeting is scheduled for June 1 at 7:30 p.m. The mayor also reminded residents of the Flags for Our Heroes event at Boar Park on Saturday at 11 a.m.
