That council member suggested the language explicitly include certain groups and added, "Where you see lawyers, that's where you see criminals," a remark that drew light response from the dais.
After the brief exchange the council conducted a roll-call vote. Members Bell, Brown, Duroche, Murl, Owens and Thompson each voted yes and the motion carried. No amendments to the proposed policy were recorded at the meeting.
Chief Cross was thanked by the chair after the vote. The council moved on to routine council comments, including reminders that Election Day is May 19 (polls open 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.), pool season begins May 23 and that the next work session is scheduled for June 8 with a regular meeting on June 16. The special call meeting was then adjourned.
