After a short recess the council heard two presentations: members of Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church invited residents to their OpaFest (dates listed in the presentation) with cultural dancing, tours and food, and Sen. Michael Webber offered a legislative update (separately reported).
On appointments, Mayor Pro Tem Chanda moved and the council approved the appointment of Barbara Chambers to the Historic District Commission for a term expiring 03/01/2029 and Annie Sickerson to the Personnel Board for a term expiring 04/30/2029. The council also approved nominations to the Zoning Board of Appeals: the record lists a nomination for Jeff Macaulay (the minutes later show a variant spelling) and a nomination for Jeff Forster (also recorded with slight variants); those nominations were approved by roll call.
During public comment resident Philippe Cicchini introduced himself as an independent candidate for Michigan State Senate District 9 and outlined the signature requirements for independent candidates (he noted independents must collect at least 1,500 signatures to qualify for the ballot).
