The Fredonia Central School District Board approved two probationary teaching appointments at its May 19 meeting.
The board approved the probationary appointment of Elizabeth Kowalski to a mathematics teaching position; Dr. Resiliac said Kowalski holds a professional certification for grades 7'12 with a 5'6 extension, completed undergraduate and master's work at Canisius College and most recently taught at Attica. Board members referenced the pending retirement of Karen Scott and welcomed Kowalski as an experienced addition to the department.
Separately, the board approved the probationary employment of Hannah (music certification with proficiencies on trumpet, piano and guitar) for a music-technology position. The superintendent described her SUNY Colonial music program background and recent experience in local music programs; colleagues said they expected her to be an energetic fit for general music and ensemble duties.
Both appointments were moved, seconded and approved on voice votes during the meeting. No salary or contract specifics were recorded in the public transcript.
The board also noted it will post any necessary replacement openings as staff transitions occur.
