The Gahanna Parks and Recreation Department has published a request for proposals to perform a site assessment of the Gahanna Swimming Pool after staff raised regulatory and structural concerns.
The director told the board the pool site lies in a regulatory floodway and contains floodplain; the pool facilities are more than 50 years old. Staff described the RFP as a preliminary step to understand site constraints, structural conditions and costs before deciding whether or how to proceed with repairs or a replacement.
The department noted proposals were due May 26 and that staff will review submissions and contract with a vendor to complete the site assessment. No board action was required at this meeting.
Board members asked if any construction would occur this year; the director said no construction was planned this year and that the department is conducting due diligence to define expectations and cost implications before moving forward.
