Pine County commissioners accept 2025 Public Works annual report

Pine County commissioners voted unanimously May 12 to accept the Public Works Department’s 2025 annual report, which summarized last year’s roadwork and the department’s unaudited finances.
County Engineer Mark LeBrun told the Pine County Board of Commissioners that in 2025 the highway department completed 8.5 miles of bituminous resurfacing, 2.0 miles of bituminous trail construction and one bridge replacement. LeBrun reported an unaudited fund balance of $7,479,676.23, including $2,381,450.62 designated for sales-tax projects and $4,471,153.28 undesignated.
Commissioner Steve Hallan moved to accept the report; Commissioner Matt Ludwig seconded. Vice Chair Roger Nelson, Hallan, J.J. Waldhalm and Ludwig voted in favor; Chair Josh Mohr was absent. The motion carried 4-0.
The report presented project completions and an overview of departmental assets, liabilities, account balances and inventory. Commissioners asked staff to provide a future project listing that clearly indicates which sales-tax-funded projects have been completed and which remain to be started or finished.
The board took no additional formal action on the report. The meeting continued with a presentation on the county’s proposed multi-year road program and a subsequent road tour of Pine City area roads.
