Garfield Heights superintendent Dr. Reynolds says he will depart at end of school year

Superintendent Dr. Reynolds told the Garfield Heights City Schools board on May 18 that he will depart the district at the end of the school year to return to the Southeast United States to be closer to family.
"I'm going home," Dr. Reynolds said, explaining he plans to return to the region where he grew up to support aging parents and be nearer his daughters' next steps in higher education. He described his four years in the district as rewarding and thanked staff, students and families for their support.
In the meeting Dr. Reynolds also congratulated the Class of 2026, praised National Honor Society inductees and highlighted recent school events, including an elementary track meet and performing-arts activity. He said he will share a more formal list of district accomplishments at the board's next meeting.
Board members responded with appreciation for his service and noted the district's progress during his tenure; the chair thanked Dr. Reynolds for his leadership and for the work that produced student growth cited elsewhere on the agenda.
Dr. Reynolds did not announce a successor or a timeline for the transition beyond departing at the end of the school year; the board will handle next steps consistent with district procedures.
