Staff reported progress on redesigning and digitizing the 'Caring for Middleton' historic‑houses booklet and said they have scanned old files and will add pages as properties are confirmed in the ongoing survey.
Christy Warner offered to lay out the booklet in InDesign and noted some original artwork and pages are available; commissioners discussed whether to seek funding so the commission would not have to sell copies and mentioned potential grant opportunities through tourism or other sources. "We could go talking about the markers ... some potential grant opportunities, perhaps through tourism," Alder John Shaffer said.
Commissioners emphasized they need the full survey results before finalizing outreach materials and before holding the public meeting that is part of the contract deliverables. Elizabeth noted most outreach materials will be provided by SHPO.
The commission agreed to add items to the June agenda: appoint new members, include any educational materials Sandy Lewis wants discussed, and schedule a public meeting to present survey results before the final payment deadline discussed in the contract timeline.
