District 76 highlights spring programs, honors staff and plans summer activities

The update emphasized assessments and instruction: spring STAAR testing will help staff identify strengths and areas for growth, and the district plans a summer analysis led by Doctor Cunningham to guide fall instruction. Presenter (S1) described ongoing PLC collaboration as a vehicle for refining interventions and supporting student growth.
The presentation reviewed multiple student transition activities: second- and fifth-grade "fly-up" visits to the West Oak campus to acclimate students to new routines, an incoming sixth-grade parent night that addressed technology issues in real time, and the first eighth-grade graduation planned for next week. Presenter (S1) said the district hopes these activities ease transitions and strengthen family–school partnerships.
Arts and community events were also highlighted: spring band and choir concerts (including the Sunrise Singers), McTeacher night—which the PTO used to raise "over $700, almost $800"—and a planned World Kindness Day with districtwide mixed-grade stations led by social workers. Presenter (S1) said the district will gather a midday drone photo to form a large "76" on the field, weather permitting.
Presenter (S1) also noted retiree recognition from a recent end-of-year celebration for staff members Chuck, Elva and Patty, and described an "impact wall" to display the names and years of service of retirees at each of the district’s three schools.
The presentation closed with reminders about field days at both campuses and a community "High 5 Friday" event featuring the Countryside Fire Department. Presenter (S1) thanked board members, staff and families and said the district is focused on sustaining momentum into the next school year.
