The Morgan County Commission completed several routine approvals at its May 20 meeting, including adoption of the agenda, approval of minutes and multiple administrative actions.
The commission adopted the meeting agenda and approved the May 6 minutes after a noted minor wording correction. A motion to approve a taxpayer exoneration request was defeated; the transcript records that the motion to approve the exoneration was denied.
The commission ratified an annual court security grant resolution related to door and security upgrades; Chair noted the county did not receive a letter of support from Judge McLaughlin for that specific work but the resolution was presented as a ratification of an already-submitted application and was approved.
Commissioners authorized the commission president to sign a memorandum of understanding with Frederick County, Maryland, covering mutual aid for fire, special rescues and disaster response; staff said Frederick County had already signed on. The commission also approved a reimbursement request for the Cedar Creek (Speaker Creek in the transcript) Watershed project of about $21,000 and discussed a separate drawdown request for the Sleepy Creek Watershed (transcript reference: "21009 65").
The consent agenda was presented and approved by voice vote. Several items were recorded as carried by 'aye' without individual roll-call votes in the transcript.
