The StoryComm Board of Directors on Feb. 18 directed its Working Group to prepare a request for information and a scope of work for a System Administrator position after Iowa State University offered a 50/50 shared role, board members said at the meeting in Ames.
Nick Lennie, speaking for the Working Group, told the board that ISU has proposed a half-time shared position. The group developed a pros-and-cons list and presented six staffing options: (1) hire a consultant (which would require an RFI under ISU procurement rules), (2) hire a full-time StoryComm employee, (3) hire a part-time StoryComm employee, (4) create a joint position with ISU/Story County/Ames, (5) create a joint position with MAPSG, or (6) create a joint position with Polk County/SARA.
The board instructed the Working Group to prepare the RFI, refine the scope and bring a draft job description to the next board meeting for consideration. No formal vote on an employment model was recorded; the direction was given as next-step guidance.
The discussion did not include a timetable for hiring or estimated salary/benefits figures; those items were not specified in the meeting record. The Working Group will return with the RFI scope and job description at the next meeting.
