Village staff seeks approval to rebuild Pump 2 at Crestwood Pumping Station

Public works staff briefed the Committee of the Whole on March 10 about plans to rebuild Pump 2 at the Crestwood Pumping Station and sought the board's comfort to sign an agreement to begin the work.
Staff said the station was placed into service in 1961 and serves a 2,250,000-gallon reservoir feeding a 2,000,000-gallon elevated tank. The station uses four 200-horsepower pumps; staff explained that the pumps and associated motors require specialized rebuilding work that involves removing the pump and motor and sending them to a shop for rewinding, replacement of seals and bearings, and other repairs.
"We are asking to rebuild pump 2 this year," staff said, adding that pump 3 is slated for the next budget year and pump 1 in fiscal year 2028. Staff identified two vendors they trust and regularly use for the station: Metropolitan (which handles SCADA and some repairs) and Dry Soaker (which rebuilt pump 4 previously).
Trustees asked whether operating capacity would be affected during the work; staff said the system's recent SCADA and VFD upgrades let the pumps be managed so the system continues to operate and that the scheduled rebuilds had been budgeted. Staff invited trustees to visit the station for a site review before contracting.
No formal vote was taken at the meeting; staff said if the board is comfortable they will sign the agreement and proceed with pulling the pump for shop rebuilding.
