Grundy County Board of Health approves organizational chart, Community Health Needs Assessment and related reports; WIC funding rises while a Ryan White HIV/AID

The Grundy County Board of Health approved an updated organizational chart, accepted a new Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) for Grundy County and approved several administrative documents needed for recertification and grant work.
Staff thanked Memorial Hospital for in-kind support on the CHNA and said the assessment reflects county-specific data used to prioritize public-health problems. ‘‘Behavioral health and substance use disorders remain among our top priorities,’’ staff noted while summarizing trends in the CHNA; the board recorded life expectancy at 76.5 years in the packet.
The board also reviewed programmatic results and grants: the department reported receiving a FY27 WIC award of $97,155, an increase of $3,282 over the current fiscal year. Nurse Katie highlighted the Vaccines for Children audit passed with only one electronic-recording follow-up, and explained the WIC program’s referral relationship with SNAP eligibility.
Separately, staff reported the department did not receive funding for the Ryan White HIV/AIDS program; staff said the notice arrived in late March and that the department will continue to provide educational and referral services despite the lack of grant funding.
On finance and claims: the March financial report showed $81,072 in revenues for March and program-level revenue allocations; the board moved and approved the monthly claims and the financial report.
Actions taken: the board approved the organizational chart, accepted the CHNA dated 04/15/2026 for recertification and grant use, approved the organizational PSV self-assessment summary, approved an April 16 letter to the Illinois Department of Public Health, and approved April claims and the financial report. Staff said the CHNA will be used to target grant applications and to inform program priorities.
Next steps: staff will continue working on recertification materials and grant opportunities, and will return to the board with any required ordinance language or grant-related proposals.
