The Village of Lake Zurich approved a three-year collective bargaining agreement with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150 that covers public-works employees.
Trustee Riley summarized key terms, saying the five-article package is retroactive to Jan. 1, 2026 and runs through Dec. 31, 2028. Under the agreement, wages increase 3.5% in 2026 and 3.5% in 2027, with a 3% increase in 2028; the agreement includes a mechanism to raise the 2028 adjustment to 3.5% to match increases given to fire and police labor contracts. Employees will receive a $40 monthly technology allowance to offset work-related cellphone use, and the contract updates health-insurance language and progressive-discipline provisions.
Public-works leadership and village staff described the contract as equitable and intended to keep the department competitive in the labor market. The board moved, seconded and approved the agreement by roll call at the meeting.
The contract terms approved at the meeting will be implemented under existing departmental payroll and budget processes; the board did not identify additional appropriations during the vote.
