Westchester swears in four officers; police and fire chiefs deliver 2025 annual reports

The Westchester Village Board on Feb. 10 swore in four new police officers and received annual reports from the police and fire departments summarizing 2025 activity.
Police Chief introduced Anthony Medina, Jamal Coleman, Nick Davis and Verona Suarez and administered the oath of office. Chief said three officers were completing field training while Officer Nick Davis is a lateral transfer from the Chicago Police Department. "We are proud to welcome each of them and look forward to their continued service to the community," the chief said.
The police annual report noted a department of 33 sworn officers (one vacancy from the 34‑officer target), community programs including National Night Out, Toys for Tots and Shop with a Cop, about 435 accidents handled in 2025, more than 1,147 traffic citations and a 36% drop in burglaries year over year. The chief also said the department added a drone, several cameras and license‑plate readers to support public safety.
The Fire Department presented its annual report, citing five new firefighter‑paramedics, promotions, sustained training and community risk‑reduction work; staff also celebrated Station 26 facility improvements.
The board congratulated the new officers and department personnel; no action was required to accept the reports beyond presentation and public acknowledgment.
