Board reports conservation-plan updates for farms with monitoring violations; staff to follow up; financial balances reported

At the Wayne County Agricultural Land Preservation Board’s Feb. 18 meeting, staff reported that updated conservation plans are being submitted for properties that previously had monitoring violations and that on-site follow-up inspections will resume as weather allows.
"Updated conservation plans are coming in for the farms in violation," staff member Jessica Yoder said, and she added that she and fellow staff member Jenny Mann will follow up on inspected farms once conditions improve.
The board also received a financial report: the State allocations balance was $510,210 as of Jan. 31, 2026 (with $346,228 encumbered); the County restricted account balance was $454,354.51 as of Feb. 17, 2026 (with $88,572 encumbered); and the board listed a 2026 state allocation of $258,710. The board approved the Jan. 21, 2026 meeting minutes (motion by Brad Bates; seconded by Brian Smith; motion passed) and later approved a motion to adjourn (motion by Brian Smith; seconded by Dan Rutledge; motion passed). The meeting adjourned at 7:57 p.m. The next board meeting is scheduled for March 18, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at the Park Street Complex.
