Winfield board approves purchase and outfitting of 2026 Ford F-350 for public works

The Winfield Village Board on Feb. 5 approved a resolution authorizing the purchase and outfitting of a 2026 Ford F-350 pickup (vehicle #659) for an amount not to exceed $73,896, Public Works Director Rahat (S6) told the board.
Rahat said the existing vehicle is 13 years old with about 65,000 miles and that the village spent roughly $4,500 last year on repairs. The purchase price quoted through the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative was $56,288, and outfitting through Bridal Industries (including a snowplow and a raiseable bed) was quoted at $17,608, bringing the total to $73,896. Rahat said the project was budgeted at $120,000, producing an estimated savings of about $45,000.
"So that's, like, about $74,000 for this vehicle to be purchased and outfitted," Rahat said. The board moved, seconded and approved the purchase by roll call.
Rahat added that crews are reviewing existing shop tools and surplus equipment for possible auction, and that the department is evaluating optional vehicle features such as fuel cells and whether they remain necessary.
