Princeton board approves contracts, aftercare agreement and several grants

At its May 9 meeting the Princeton Board of Education approved multiple contracts and grant acceptances on the consent agenda, including an aftercare programming contract, pool and athletic services agreements, and food-service arrangements.

Operations committee chair Susan summarized the items for the board: the Candlewood pool management contract (not to exceed $214,500), a contract with JAG Athletic Training (not to exceed $91,584), a one‑year after‑school program contract with Samara Solutions Group for Sept. 1, 2026–June 30, 2027, and an extension with Pomptonian Food Services totaling $1,824,362. The board also accepted grants and donations listed on the agenda, including $12,600 from the Riverside PTO for a courtyard project, $5,000 from a donor to support two soccer players, and an $845 donation to the Raymond Hunt Scholarship Fund.

The aftercare programming contract was approved by roll call; the transcript records one abstention by Christopher Santarpio and otherwise affirmative votes. The chair announced the motion carried. Board members asked clarifying procedural questions (for example, the food-service contract means the district pays the vendor to operate food service on site) and thanked donors for contributions.

Why it matters: Contracts and grant acceptances determine service providers for student programs this coming year and commit district funds. The Pomptonian extension and aftercare contractor will affect meal services and out‑of‑school programming for 2026–27.

Next steps: The board will proceed with contracted services as approved and follow routine administrative procurement and implementation processes.
