WAM briefs Jackson council on municipal finance tools, training and fast‑track permits

Ashley Harpreet, board member and regional representative for the Wyoming Association of Municipalities (WAM), updated the Jackson Town Council on several statewide resources meant to assist municipal finance, grant writing and local training.
Harpreet said WAM has launched a municipal finance program, is building a municipal finance dashboard and will publish a municipal finance data book that includes actuals (not just budgets) to help communities compare practices across jurisdictions. "We are here as a resource to you," she said, offering help on grant writing and financial capacity building.
She also noted a new mayor/council handbook that WAM updated and encouraged council members to attend regional meetings and WAM conferences. Harpreet reminded the council about statewide fast‑track permitting legislation that becomes effective July 1, which she said will affect permitting for small residential units and requires municipalities to prepare for a shorter review timeline.
Council members thanked WAM for the support and training resources and discussed upcoming regional events and coordination with county officials. No formal action was taken; staff said they will follow up as needed to connect with WAM programs.
