Loveland board approves consolidated student handbooks and staff handbook updates

The Loveland School District Board approved a set of handbook and policy updates covering student handbooks for 202627, a 202629-29 exempt employee handbook and a 202629-29 administrator handbook.

The student handbook consolidation was presented by Dr. Puerta, who said the changes "are actually pretty minimal going into next year" and explained the district will group handbooks by grade bands to improve website access and ADA compliance. The consolidation separates grade bands (elementary, middle, high) so that building handbooks are easier to maintain and present online.

Administrators and human-resources staff described the exempt and administrator handbook updates as aligning administrator salary ranges and compensatory-time tracking with the LEA bargaining-unit increases. The assistant superintendent of human resources noted the changes include title adjustments already adopted and a clearer framework for compensatory time, and that the updates go into effect with the next school year.

Each handbook approval was moved and carried by roll-call vote during the meeting. The board also reviewed red-line versions of the documents and invited members to send suggested edits before the final adoption cycle where appropriate. The board president said members would take the academic-calendar packet and handbooks home for further study and feedback, consistent with the first-read process.

The board's action will be reflected in updated documents posted to the district's administrative materials; the motion language and roll-call approvals were recorded in the minutes.
