The Town of Middletown council approved its consent calendar and moved through several licensing and permit items. The council granted a tattoo license for Olga Flamenco Shop (999 West Main Road) for the 2026–2027 licensing year and granted a license to WS Middletown LLC (Wingstop, 7 East Main Road) subject to building official, fire marshal and Department of Health approvals.
The council also accepted an application and voted to advertise for a future public hearing on a requested transfer of a Class B liquor license from Tito’s Cantina (651 West Main Road) to Plaza Alta Group LLC. Special event permits approved included Middletown Celebrates America 250 (games, music, food trucks and fireworks at Paradise Valley Park and Second Beach on July 1, 2026), a St. George’s School yard sale on June 6, 2026, and a summer event at Aquinnick Pediatrics on June 13, 2026; the council waived fees for certain permits and acknowledged Newport’s $8,000 contribution toward fireworks.
Approvals were taken by voice vote with conditions noted where necessary; town staff said outstanding building and health approvals were in process for the new food‑service license.
