Haddonfield board honors teachers and support staff at annual awards ceremony

Assistant Superintendent Gino Priolo opened the evening—s recognitions by describing the district—s nominations process and saying the program received more than 225 nominations from across the district. "The most important job we have is hiring great educators," Priolo said, explaining how scoring teams selected winners from staff and support nominees.

The board honored multiple teachers and educational support professionals representing elementary, middle and high school buildings. Nominators praised recipients for classroom leadership, student engagement and program-building; examples cited included a counseling approach that supports students with anxiety, sustained robotics programming funded from earlier federal grant balances, and a classroom signal system using a small rubber duck to help students request quiet assistance without interrupting instruction.

One honoree said she was grateful for the recognition and the district—s support. Administrators also noted family members and colleagues in the audience and read letters from the county executive superintendent and the New Jersey Department of Education.

The presentations underscored recurring themes raised by staff: long service in some roles, cross-school collaboration, and district investments in extracurriculars and student supports. Assistant Superintendent Priolo emphasized the selection process—s use of averaged scores from building-level panels and called out educators—day-to-day work in classrooms and counseling offices.

The board left the recognitions and short remarks as the substantive portion of the meeting, then proceeded to routine business and approvals.
