Human resources director Judy Vaughn Kalinowski told the board the district’s vacancy rate stands at 4% overall, with one current vacancy among 27 employees. The report fulfilled an annual requirement under AB 2561 to present vacancy rates to the governing body.
"The vacancy rate is, 4% overall. We have 1 vacancy in the district, which is phenomenal," Kalinowski said, and described steps the HR team is taking to recruit and retain staff, including competitive salaries, job fairs, employee training and monthly monitoring of vacancy metrics.
Kalinowski told the board that if vacancy rates rise to 20%, staff will return with a detailed plan explaining causes and candidate recruitment approaches and will notify unions as appropriate. Board members offered praise for the low vacancy rate and the HR team’s work. The item was informational and required no board action.
