Shelton council advances paving, water-reservoir study and PCB grant agreements to June 2 action agenda

The Shelton City Council advanced multiple infrastructure and grant items to its June 2 action agenda following staff briefings on May 19.
Assistant public-works director Brent Armstrong described a joint paving operation with Mason County targeting Jefferson Street and East Mountain View and said the collaboration leverages county forces to save costs; the council moved Resolution 1439-0426 to the June 2 action agenda.
Staff also presented a grant-funded predesign study for a new 1.5-million-gallon Mountain View reservoir to address aging tanks and capacity constraints. Council moved Resolution 1436-0426 (authorize A/E predesign work) onto the June 2 action agenda; staff noted state appropriations and past legislative support for reservoir funding.
Stormwater staff summarized a Department of Ecology grant (up to $449,150) to replace PCB-contaminated electrical transformers in cooperation with Public Utility District No. 3; the council placed Resolution 1437-0426 and an interlocal authorization with PUD3 (Resolution 1438-0426) on the June 2 action agenda.
Council also approved the Shelton Arts Commission’s recommendations for the Civic Center rotating gallery and moved those placements into the consent/approval process.
Each of the infrastructure and grant resolutions was placed on the June 2 action agenda for final consideration; the council emphasized grants and interlocal partnerships as cost-saving measures.
