A member of the public used Oakland County’s public comment period to accuse an organization they referred to as "SCALE" of exercising control over county governments through the judicial branch and county IT infrastructure.
The commenter said Oakland County pays half of judges' salaries and claimed the combination of judicial control and control over IT vendors has allowed concealment of alleged judicial misconduct. "SCALE has complete control of every county in Michigan through their judicial branch," the commenter said during the public-comment period.
No county official provided a substantive rebuttal or confirmation on the record during the meeting. The chair closed public comment and the meeting proceeded to the board’s single agenda item about intervening in a DTE rate case.
Because the statements were made during public comment and were not examined or corroborated in the meeting record, the claims remain unproven on the record and were not acted upon by the board during this session.
