Charlene Thomas received 11 votes on repeated ballots but did not reach the 13‑vote threshold required; the commission deferred the nomination to the May 2026 meeting.
Chairwoman Kelly Collins announced Commissioner Jerry Stout’s immediate resignation during the meeting, and later the commission appointed Stout to fill the vacancy as the 8th District representative on the Carter County Board of Education; the appointment passed with 16 yes votes and 1 no. Mayor Woodby also announced an appointment to the First Utility District earlier in the meeting, naming David Bowers to a four‑year term effective April 20, 2026.
