The Madison County Board of Health approved the March 2026 audit of claims, which totaled about $321,000 and included costs for four staff trainings and a late-quarter advertising expense tied to the Healthy Neighborhoods Program grant. Vice President Wendy Cary moved to approve the audit; Dr. Siubhan Bongiovanni seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Mary Cavanagh, the Board of Supervisors representative, told the board that the February Health & Human Services meeting passed a resolution urging the Governor’s Office to reinstate funding for the Healthy Neighborhoods Program. Cavanagh also reported that Director Eric Faisst presented data showing preschool transportation accounts for approximately 40% of the preschool program’s total budget, and discussed potential options for the county to consider in response to rising costs.
Board members asked for clarification about late provider submissions related to Medicaid reimbursement and were told providers are made aware that late claims can be accepted if they meet Medicaid submission requirements. The board had no further action on the funding or transportation issues during the meeting.
The board approved the February 2026 meeting minutes at the start of the session after a motion by Dr. Gerry Edwards and a second from Supervisor Cavanagh.
The meeting adjourned at 7:11 p.m.; the next meeting is scheduled for April 27, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. in person at the Madison County Public Health Department in Wampsville.
