School committee delays action to let counsel vet Friends of Northbridge Baseball proposal

The Northbridge Public Schools School Committee on June 24 said it will give outside counsel more time to review a proposal from Friends of Northbridge Baseball before approving any work or partnership.

Superintendent said the district received the full proposal and legal review is required because "there are a lot of legal ramifications based on the proposal that they gave us," and the district will ask Liz and her firm to suggest a narrower package with fewer liabilities. The Superintendent said departments will review the district review report sections and the committee expects to respond at a future meeting.

Committee members emphasized balancing enthusiasm for the volunteers’ plans with the district’s long‑term responsibilities.
