Committee approves calendar extension and international field trip after brief discussion

During an informational presentation, the trip organizer explained that the vendor’s fundraising platform (EF) allows families to solicit donations directly through the vendor; he emphasized that those funds are handled by the vendor and are not district funds. Committee members asked whether a nurse is required for overseas travel, and administration confirmed that health-department requirements apply and that a nurse will be provided for international trips when required.
The committee passed two action items by roll-call vote. The clerk read the roll-call votes for the calendar revision and the motion passed. The clerk later read the roll-call votes approving the field trip. Votes were read aloud by the clerk and recorded in the meeting minutes.
During the meeting’s discussion segment members also debated whether high-school students should be permitted to attend a fifth-grade celebration; several members suggested a policy-subcommittee review if the request persists.
Public comment at the meeting included a resident suggestion for the committee to consider reasonable ways to approve requests. "We should be going, what are ways we can say yes," said Jason Voldick, a resident who addressed the board during public comment.
The two motions passed without recorded no votes.
