Hancock County signs off on pavement, roof and facility repairs and related transfers

The board approved a $12,000 sole-source award to American Concrete of VC Main to repair exterior steps, noting cost savings because the contractor will reuse existing railings. "The reason is because this is the original supplier of this type of products and the only one in Eastern Maine," a committee member said when the county discussed the sole-source justification. The commissioners approved a transfer of $12,000 from the county building reserve account (G1-3011-00) to cover the repair.
Separately, the board awarded a shingle roof contract to D and S Builders LLC and approved a $30,690 transfer from the building reserve account to cover the job. Commissioners also clarified and approved transfers to cover jail-store expenses and a multifunctional printer: $4,500 from a DA copy reserve account and $7,300 from a DA equipment reserve were recorded in the discussion as the funding sources for county equipment purchases.
All motions related to repairs, bids and transfers were approved by voice vote. County staff and finance personnel were instructed to process the transfers and proceed with contracting and procurement steps per county procedures.
