Students celebrated: Elmwood Park board highlights talent shows, athletics and IHSA All‑State placement

The Elmwood Park board meeting included a series of student presentations and recognitions from across district schools.
Elementary and middle‑school students were recognized for classroom citizenship and academic competitions. A Math Olympiads presenter described two students finishing nationally in the top 10% and top 20% of participants; the board offered congratulations.
Elm Middle School students highlighted extracurricular achievements, including the girls soccer conference championship decided in overtime and penalty kicks, and a list of team members was read aloud. Declan Cahill and Celeste Rodriguez introduced themselves and described school activities and NJHS participation.
Elmwood Park High School reported that senior Benio ("Beanie") Martinigo placed fourth at the IHSA journalism state finals in review writing, the district’s first All‑State journalism placement. The high school also announced state qualifiers in track and field, upcoming senior activities and graduation logistics with the ceremony scheduled for May 29 at 6:00 p.m.
The board thanked students and staff for the season’s accomplishments and closed the recognitions portion before moving into business items.
