Megan Eldridge named chair as Yarmouth community and economic development committee organizes

Megan Eldridge, the Town of Yarmouth’s community development director, opened the committee’s first meeting since her arrival and led introductions as members organized leadership.
Eldridge told the committee it is charged under the town’s tourism revenue preservation statute to broaden the local economic base and support tourism-related projects and events. She asked members to share their backgrounds; attendees included Will Rubenstein (planning board designee), Pete Malpass, Michelle Collins Clemons and David Antonio. Mary Vilbon, president and CEO of the Yarmouth Chamber of Commerce, and local business owner Tom Nicanall were present as members of the public.
The committee agreed to proceed with internal organization. Eldridge proposed committee roles and explained the clerk’s duties: to take notes, double-check minutes and confirm accuracy before items proceed to the full select board. Members discussed cadence and format; they agreed the regular meeting time will be the third Monday at 6:00 p.m., with the possibility of hybrid participation in summer months.
Eldridge said she will circulate meeting packets to members in advance and asked members to review past annual reports and outstanding minutes from 2024. She asked the group to prepare 2–3 goals for the remainder of calendar 2026 for discussion at the next meeting.
The meeting adjourned after members completed organizational business.
